Strategic Category Lead - Sub Contract Machining

Reporting into the Head of Procurement and working within the Supply Chain Team, this strategic position holds a key focus in acquiring materials for the Engineering and Production departments with a specific focus on machining, forming, injection moulding, tools and composites.  Managing and developing the supplier base for this division is essential as well as ensuring a cost-effective process within the category plan.

Key Responsibilities;

 Define and develop category plans to consider stakeholder management, spend analysis, current and future product demands. Contract negotiation and the implementation of Non-Disclosure Agreements with prospective suppliers. Maintain and manage existing suppliers to ensure contract compliance, managing risk within the supply chain and to secure long term supply and cost saving opportunities. Strive to become the subject matter expert in terms of spend, on time delivery performance, supply base capability and materials for the category. Monthly reporting and analysis of spend and performance as well as representing and promoting the Supply Chain at key stakeholder meetings.  

To be successful in this position you will have;

 Previous category lead and operational procurement experience essential with prior experience of working closely with machining, forming, molding, tools and composites within a production environment – aviation or automotive environment preferred but not essential. Experience of delivering a high-quality service in a fast paced procurement environment where quality and cost spend are key requirements. Knowledge of Contract implementation and developing Negotiation matrices. Ability to develop and implement supply chain strategies and category plans. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a natural ability to build strong working relationships and therefore a confidence in communicating and influencing senior stakeholders. Able to multi-task, manage own time effectively and work towards set deadlines. Experience of using MS Office, MRP systems e.g. SAP, Access or similar. CIPS qualification or studying towards preferred but not essential.

Design and Development Engineer

Working within the New Product Development team, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop and deliver state of the art aircraft seating products and technologies.  Acro deliver robust engineering solutions that are delivered right first time, on time and to budget.  Working closely with the NPD team and wider business this position is accountable for the safe and reliable design of multiple aircraft seating programmes and ensuring regulatory guidelines are met and weight and cost are always considered in the design process.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Take technical ownership for the assigned seating modules and scope out requirements and targets for the project. Developing composite products from concept through to certification and production readiness. Creating new ideas and investigating alternative materials and manufacturing processes that will always consider weight, cost, robustness and the assembly process. Verifying designs through calculations and key analysis to validate the product effectively. Determine and manage priorities, timescales and deadlines and suggest solutions when at risk of deviating from original plans. To manage and delegate tasks to junior engineering team members.

To be successful in this position you will have;

 A Mechanical Engineering degree and significant post graduate experience. Previous experience of working within an aerospace or automotive environment desirable. Strong experience in the use of CAD for product design engineering – Catia V5 preferred but not essential. The ability to undertake fundamental engineering hand calculations including stress analysis. Experience of product evaluation and structural testing to validate the product against the targets set. Experience in design and development of composite structures. Sufficient exposure to the latest manufacturing techniques such as composites, injection mouldings, vacuum forming, castings, forgings, extrusions and machined from solid. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build relationships cross functionally within the business and when mentoring other team members. The ability to adapt within a fast and pressured and deadline driven environment.

Project Manager-New Product Development


Reporting into the Lead NPD Project Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for supporting New Product Development (NPD) and the successful delivery of multiple complex projects.  Working closely with the Project Manager and Head of Programmes and collaborating closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement and external suppliers / customers, this full lifecycle project management position will take on a range of tasks and will require a strong technical / engineering understanding.


To be successful in this position you will have/be;


  • Strong Project Management experience to include management of technical projects.
  • A previous background in Engineering with exposure to New Product Development (NPD).
  • Experience of working within the Aviation industry with knowledge of regulatory bodies such as EASA, CAA and FAA preferred but not essential.
  • Capable of managing high complexity programmes with a high level of governance.
  • Working towards or qualified within Prince2 or similarly recognised project management qualification.

Maintenance and Facilities Coordinator

Reporting into the Logistics and Facilities Manager, this is a hands-on role that involves all activities relating to an efficient facilities service which will include building management, maintenance and repairs for the site.

Key Responsibilities;

To ensure the general maintenance of the building is kept up by managing labourer and external contractors including external drainage systems. Manage all onsite suppliers related to the building environment including any H&S and PAT test related considerations. Manage the cleaners ensuring that the highest performance standards are adhered to. Maintain and prioritise jobs reported on the maintenance log as well as ensuring facilities supplies are stocked to appropriate levels. Managing the building security to include key holding /lock up duties and liaising with alarm system providers to ensure they are serviced and fully functioning. To ensure that all lighting is in working order and any replacement parts are replaced as required. To provide all utilities readings to the relevant utilities companies, reporting any problems and taking corrective actions as necessary. Deliver uninterrupted running of all fixed equipment maintenance schedules. Control frequency and adherence to standards of all refuse and recycling collections. Perform despatch duties when necessary to cover Shipping Coordinators holidays/ sickness or on an ad-hoc basis.

To be successful in this position you will have;

Good basic knowledge of facilities management, ideally with a maintenance background. Experience within a manufacturing environment preferred. Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages and confident in general Excel spread sheet management. Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements desirable. Strong organisation, coordination and time management skill. The ability to prioritise and adapt to changing environments and demands. Excellent interpersonal skill with the ability to build positive relationships both internally and externally. Ability to undertake manual work.

Head of Purchasing

Reporting into the Operations Director and working closely with Engineering, Accounts, Production and external suppliers, the Head of Purchasing will lead the development of partnerships with suppliers, manage the timely delivery and cost effective purchasing of all production and consumable materials, introduce and develop new and existing suppliers into the NPD process.
Key Responsibilities;

  • Build and maintain real, mutually beneficial partnerships with new and existing suppliers. Coach and develop the Purchasing team to achieve the companies and their own aspirations. Drive the purchasing team to achieve and maintain tight purchasing schedules. Reduce material costs wherever possible within the guidelines of quality standards and inventory levels.
  • Negotiate contracts for supply of material from existing and new suppliers to also include upholding and improving quality standards of materials received.
  • Develop processes to guarantee adequate and on time delivery of materials for production. Development, implementation and continuous improvement of all purchasing and material control systems.
  • Setting and ensuring achievement on short term targets and long term goals for the purchasing and manufacturing operation.
  • Source new materials, processes and suppliers for new and existing products as required.
  • To be successful in this position you will have/be;
  • Previous purchasing management experience within a progressive manufacturing / engineering environment. Experience within the aerospace industry would be a distinct advantage although not essential. Excellent organisation and coordination skill with a creative approach to problem solving to ensure a key alignment between purchasing, the supply chain, manufacturing and customer services.
  • Strong team management, motivation, nurturing and dynamic leadership skills. Senior Applications Engineer

As an integral member of the Design Engineer team and reporting into the Lead Design Engineer the Senior Applications Engineer will be accountable for the safe and reliable design of aircraft seats across multiple programmes. Leading and managing a team of engineers you will be technically responsible for the products that you and your team deliver. You will act as the main technical interface between the business and the customer, ensuring that all requirements both design and regulatory focussed are successfully negotiated and delivered upon.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Defining, driving, planning, controlling and monitoring progress of the engineering team to ensure full delivery of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Lead, manage and support direct reports with the design and compliance of the aircraft seat on a day to day basis as well as managing 1-2-1 meetings, holiday approval, sickness/absence management, personal development plans and appraisal reviews.
  • Direct and regular liaison with the external customer and airframe manufacturer to ensure all engineering requirements are understood and agreed.
  • Develop relationships with key suppliers in order to successfully deliver on the technical solutions.
  • To support the Lead Design Engineer and Engineering Manager in continuous improvement of systems and processes to maximise efficiency and quality output ensuring best practice.
  • To communicate with all relevant engineering, stress and certification teams and regulatory bodies to ensure all aspects of checking and approval are met.

To be successful in this position you will have/be;

  • A Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering degree.
  • Post graduate design engineering experience within the aerospace sector.
  • Previous experience of engineering complex structural or mechanical products through to manufacture.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, supervising or managing a team of engineers.
  • 3D CAD capability and experience, Catia 5 preferred.
  • Excellent and previous customer facing experience from an engineering perspective.
  • A strong negotiator, decision maker, excellent coordination and organisation skill.
